Fasting program

Fasting is the voluntarily act of non-eating for a specific period of time.

Why should you do this? The benefits of fasting are countless: proven health benefits, weight loss, detoxification, spirituality and a feeling of coming home are the most frequently mentioned. But if you are attentive, you will also notice that your senses are getting sharper. You will start to smell the nature around you while fasting. You might enjoy the smell of a normal apple suddenly for example. You will grow in determination and willpower.

One of my clients told me that she put herself in the shoes of those who have little or nothing to eat and rediscovered gratitude in her daily life. Another was very surprised to see how easy it was not to eat. She imagined as an impossible thing for herself. Every single one of us experience this special period in our lives differently. One thing is common; it is really worth it to try and to do it regulary.

The most common fast nowadays is certainly Ramadan among Muslims. In this case, it is a matter of fasting for a period of 30 days, from sunrise to sunset. After each sunset, there is a break in fasting. But there are other forms of fasting such as intermittent fasting. Here we choose to fast only one or several days a week, but we fast each week for a couple of month! In German culture the water fasting according to Buchinger is really celebrated. Buchinger was a doctor of the 19th century who was healed from his painful articulations after fasting. Thanks to this experience he did a lot of research with fasting, founded a hospital in überlingen in south Germany and healed a lot of people with his therapy. In this form only drinking of pure water and broth are permitted. The breaking of the fast is only once after a long consecutive period of 10 to 40 days. A lighter form of the classical water fasting in terms of time is the 3-day fast. A lighter form in terms of nutrient is the modified fasting. In this form soups or fresh fruit juices are allowed.
